A12 – A Key Component of ELSTER for Many Years

Complex tax logic. Modeled, not coded.
50M+
tax returns processed
digitally every year
20M+
identities securely managed
200K+
active users in peak hours
What started in 1996 as the foundation for an electronic tax return is today a standard application used by millions – and still evolving. For many years, mgm technology partners has supported the Bavarian State Office for Taxes in developing and maintaining key ELSTER components, including the "Mein ELSTER" portal. With A12, tax administration experts can model and update validation rules across more than 1,000 tax models themselves – without developer involvement.

The result: faster response to regulatory changes, lower maintenance effort, and a platform that stays reliable at massive scale.

A12 is going open source in May 2026 – in close coordination with the Bavarian State Tax Office.

“In the implementation of ELSTER we opted for a lean project approach with controllable implementation steps. In small teams our experts of fiscal and taxation matters cooperate directly with the technical experts."

Allianz MySmartGate

Industrial insurance. Sold globally – In minutes.

From manual complexity to automated global distribution – across 10+ countries

Launching a new insurance product in an international market used to mean months of integration work, manual processes, and country-specific customization from scratch. With MySmartGate, built on A12 and live since 2016, Allianz can roll out commercial insurance products across new markets in a fraction of the time – reusing modular components instead of rebuilding from zero.
The result:
Up to 70% less time spent on quoting and policy issuance, fully automated underwriting for select products, and a platform that's already operating in more than 10 countries, including the US. For brokers and distribution partners, it means real-time quotes, 24/7 – without picking up the phone.
Chefs Culinar Enterprice

Pricing at scale. Sales keeps moving.

10 million individual prices, complex contract structures – and a migration running in parallel with daily business.

Chefs Culinar built its market position on customer-specific pricing. To manage that complexity without slowing down sales, mgm technology partners developed Enterpricea dedicated price management platform built on the A12 enterprise low-code framework. The application handles around 10 million individual prices through a guided workflow, offloads complex pricing logic from the core ERP, and serves as the central data hub between the legacy system and the new SAP S/4 HANA environment throughout the ongoing migration. The SAP-integrated successor application, EnterpriceSAP, is in its final development phase and is set to go live later this year.

The bottom line:
Highly complex pricing processes become fully manageable – without compromising customer-specific conditions, without disrupting day-to-day operations, and with complete readiness for the future SAP landscape.
